I was in my mid 40s the first time I visited Florida, growing up in Mass. I loved those plastic pink flamingos, dreaming someday of visiting that romantic tropical state…at least that’s how I saw it then. The misconceptions of youth. However, while I don’t romanticize the tropics now, I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else.
